Keira Shae is an American essayist, speaker, memoirist, and poet. Keira grew up in a poverty-stricken family and combated abuse, drugs, prostitution, and family separation. As a teen in foster care, Shae experienced kindness from a foster family which changed the trajectory of her life. Through police records, lifelong journaling, and court documents, she built a narrative published in 2018. Shae titled her memoir after Leonard Cohen's lyrics:
There is a crack in everything; that's how the light gets in.
How The Light Gets In was Keira’s debut bestseller, which she narrated for Audible.
Shae also collaborated on the poetry collection, Shades of Becoming.
She was the first in her family to graduate high school, let alone attend college, and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology.
As a consequence of poverty, both her painting and her writing are wholly ignorant and raw.
